I ordered the carne asada plate and it was delicious. Started to eat it before I could take a picture. Will definitely be trying other dishes from them. You must try their food it's like home made.
Food (5/5 stars): Tortilleria Los Reyes in Downtown Vista has 99 cent tacos every Tuesday! Between the Asada and Adobada, I preferred the latter. I also love their house-made tortillas, chips, and salsas. Fresh homemade corn tortillas! Freshness you can taste. Great value on taco Tuesdays, 99 cent tacos! This place is inside a small market, in a nice little area of downtown Vista. They mostly speak Spanish, but if you're more comfortable with an English speaker, the cashier at the front of the market can help. We tried the carne asada and adobada tacos. Both were pretty good. I think the asada outshined the al pastor adobada this time (it was slightly dry, but still good). As you can see in the pic I've posted, there is ample cilantro and onions.. and the salsa is great here. The market has some pretty good stuff too.. tacos are always better with a cold bottle of Jarritos.
Nothing says home to me like a tortilleria. Having grown up in the valley of Texas, 10 minutes from the border, tortillerias were a major part of our everyday life. Sought out Tortilleria Reyes in Vista and OMG, this place did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, it impressed the hell out of me! There was virtually anything one could want or need on a personal or professional level. I picked up 1/2 dozen pork tamales and 2 dozen tortillas de Harina. If I lived here, this would be my daily, but I don't so I have to enjoy what I can while I can. The tamales were epic, just like small kid times and I loved them. Putting a nice fresh tortilla in the pan until it separates with that beautiful pillow of air, just another slice of small kid time memories and a major bonus to my tastebuds. So, in closing, please support this awesome business and the rest work they do, I'm going to start figuring out how I can have this sent directly to me once a month in Hawaii. Well, just to go back and get more it was so delicious. Also was tipped off by the ultra friendly staff of the Saturdays only blue corn tortillas so got some of those too. Bought a backpack to bring my new found bounty back to Oahu. This place is epic!
$.99 tacos on Tuesdays and Fridays! A little market with a taco place inside... We found this place by chance, and were surprised to find the taco shop inside.. I mean, I thought it was just a little mini mart. There is a super sweet lady that took our order, spoke in Spanish to us the whole time, and somehow we made it work.. it was great. We got 9 tacos, 3 each of carne asada, adobada and cabeza. Comes with cilantro and onions, some limes on the side and salsa. We also got chicharrones and they were soooo crispy yumm . Also, more of an FYI because we didn't realize it until we ordered our tacos with the sweet lady but you actually order/ pay at the cashier in the front then take the receipt with you to the taco window and they'll prep your tacos!
What a delight to find this place. The smells, market and fresh tortillas enveloped the consumer in this unique market. We bought lunch and were seduced by the carne asada blue corn tacos. Fresh,Fresh, Fresh! The staff were delightful and the prices make this very affordable. Looking forward to returning,
